Friedman’s Upper West Side Site Sells for $4.1M

Lee & Associates NYC’s Peter Braus Reps Friedman’s Restaurant Group in $4.1M Upper West Side Retail Co-op Acquisition

Commercial Observer reports that Peter Braus of Lee & Associates NYC represented Mountain View Acquisition LLC — the ownership group behind famed New York City restaurants Friedman’s Restaurant and Pastrami Queen — in the $4.1 million acquisition of a 5,000-square-foot retail co-op unit at 541-555 Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Brandon Polakoff of Avison Young represented the seller, family LLC 176 West 87th Leasehold.

The group plans to open a new Friedman’s Restaurant location in the retail co-op’s existing vacant unit, adding to at least seven existing Friedman’s locations in Manhattan, including the chain’s original site at Chelsea Market. Longtime Upper West Side institution Barney Greengrass and butcher shop Hudson & Charles both currently occupy the retail co-op and will remain in their spaces following the sale.

“The group is expanding its footprint in a top location on the Upper West Side, while also keeping a New York institution intact and operating for years to come,” said Peter Braus of Lee & Associates NYC.
